FnF Competitions
About FnF Competitions
FnF stands for "facts 'n' figures". We explain how UK prize competitions work, with the maths and the rules laid out plainly, so you can decide for yourself.
Why this site exists
Prize competitions have become one of the most visible forms of online entertainment in Britain. They are advertised everywhere, yet the basics are rarely explained in one place without a sales pitch attached: why they are legal, what the free entry route is, what your odds are, and whether you pay tax on a prize.
That is what FnF Competitions is for. Each guide answers one practical question, and our odds and value calculator lets you test any competition you are considering in a few seconds.
What we do not do
- We do not run competitions, sell tickets or hold draws.
- We do not publish "winners", league tables of operators or reviews of individual sites.
- We do not give legal, tax or financial advice. Our guides are general information, and we point you to official sources where the details matter.
How we write
We base our guides on the primary sources: the Gambling Act 2005, guidance published by the Gambling Commission and the government, the CAP Code and HMRC guidance. Where examples include prices or ticket numbers, they are illustrations built to show the maths, not data about any real competition.
If you spot something that is out of date or wrong, please email us. Corrections are the most useful messages we receive.
